If you ask any web designer (and I mean those experienced ones) what is the best thing can happen for them besides getting a million dollar project or an Xbox 360 for Christmas present, I'm pretty sure 9 out of 10 would say: "to be Googled".

For the benefit of those who aren't aware, being Googled simply means to be found in Google when people search for them by keywords related to what they are doing or offering. And since there are more people searching for stuff in Google than any other search engines in the world, being found in Google simply increases one's exposure, and more exposure = more businesses. So that's why.

I had been fortunate enough to be on the first page of Google for quite a while, especially when one searches for "singapore freelance web designer". And I owe 90% of my jobs to Google. But what made me more excited today is, I have actually got the number one position! The feeling is pretty much like... getting a free ice-cream, with free toppings, and being paid for eating it!

Nonetheless, I don't know for how long will I stay at number one position, but I know I have to celebrate this moment of glory (forgive my vanity), so I did a screen capture of the Google page and I'm going to print it and frame it up and hang it on the wall and make it one of the stories to tell my grandchildren ;)

To be honest, besides feeling like getting free ice-cream with free toppings, being number one in search engines is also way more gratifying than winning some awards; I mean, you can't pay your bills with those awards, can you?
